(Washington, DC, March 1, 2017) — The Committee to Support U.S. Trade Laws (CSUSTL), a coalition committed to strong laws against unfair trade practices, and their strict enforcement, complimented the Administration today on the release of the President’s Trade Policy Agenda for 2017. “The more aggressive approach to international trade issues laid out by the Trump Administration could well be an important turning point for U.S. manufacturers and growers in the battle to overcome market-distorting unfair trade practices such as dumping and government subsidies,” said Thomas M. Sneeringer, CSUSTL President.

“All American manufacturers, farmers, and workers should applaud President Trump’s support for trade policies that combat unfair trade practices and actually help make free trade work as it should. This is the kind of policy we have long needed to promote growth in the U.S. productive economy, instead of encouraging companies to move their operations or the purchasing power abroad,” he said.

“Especially welcome is the recognition of – and the need to restore — U.S. sovereignty over our trade policy,” Sneeringer continued. “A policy aimed at revising U.S. trade policy to obtain reciprocity in fact is important for our country, as is ensuring strong enforcement and a WTO Dispute Settlement system that doesn’t create obligations never agreed to by the U.S.”

“We look forward to working with the Administration to promote these objectives,” he concluded.
