WASHINGTON DC, July 6, 2018 – The Committee To Support US Trade Laws (CSUSTL) today announced that its Executive Board has named Mark Benedict as the group’s next President, effective July 1. Benedict succeeds Tom Sneeringer, who retired as of June 30. Sneeringer was recognized for his exceptional services to CSUSTL by its membership in late June.
“I look forward to the opportunity to work with the members of CSUSTL in their critical mission of maintaining and strengthening the US antidumping and countervailing duty laws,” said Benedict. He continued “The men and women of CSUSTL have been fighting for fair trade for US businesses, their workers, and their families, for 3 decades. Over that time the group has become the nation’s leading champion for strong and effective trade laws, and a voice of reason and stability regarding their use.”
As Managing Partner, of Genesis Group LLC, Benedict has been in private practice for 24 years. Under his leadership the firm supports the activities of US businesses that use the antidumping and countervailing duty laws to address unfair trade practices by offshore competitors. Prior to creation of the Genesis Group, he served for 16 years as Legislative Counsel to Congressman Ralph Regula (R-16-OH). During that time he worked extensively with the newly created CSUSTL to advance the trade laws in the Uruguay Round (Geneva, Brussels) and the Multilateral Steel Accord (Seoul) negotiations. Benedict has served on various industry and private academic boards, with his recent activities as the board chair of an international mission focused on refugee support in the third world countries of north and central Africa.
